The Languages Center Vision Statement

The Languages Center at Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo will become leader in the teaching of Foreign Languages. The University has nationwide recognition and the ability to provide a high quality service in every level of human performance. Students are characterized by motivation to acquire meaningful learning to be applied in daily social and academic environments.

  Message from the Languages Center Coordinator

Welcome to the Languages Center at Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo webpage. I am delighted that students and the community are now more interested in learning a foreign language. People are aware that being proficient in the use of languages is absolutely necessary to be competitive in a world where communication and information play a key role to guarantee a successful personal and professional growth.    

The Languages Center is committed in providing our users with a learning experience in a stimulating environment that prepares them to face the challenges globalization. We find our strength in our staff whose expertise assures a vibrant learning environment.

Mrs. Sandra Abarca holds a Master’s degree in Education Management and Leadership as well as a Master’s in Language Teaching. She was coordinator of the Language Department at Universidad Tecnológica Equinoccial. She is leader of an outreach project to link the university with indigenous communities. Mr. Luis F. Barriga holds a Bachelor´s degree in English Language Teaching and a Diploma in New Methodologies for Teaching English. Mr. Edison Damián is an English professor as well as a translator. He is a member of the Research Institute ICITS–UNACH. He served as Director of the Languages Center at the College of Education for several years. His interests are in teaching and evaluation based on e-learning applications. Mrs. Silvana Célleri has worked as an English teacher for six years. She is currently undertaking her master’s program in Applied Linguistics. Mrs. Mónica Guerra is a tenured Professor of EFL. She holds a Master’s Degree in Distance Learning Education. She is the author of a book to teach Biology and Chemistry majors. Miss Myriam Trujillo has a Master’s degree in Higher Education. She holds a doctorate in Planning and Curriculum Design. She has written books regarding early education and learning. Mr. Geovanny Armas is a professor of English as a Foreign Language. He has a Master’s degree in Linguistics Applied to the Learning of English. He has been a professor of English since 1999. Mrs. Janneth Caisaguano was the College of Engineering Languages Center Coordinator for two years. She was SENESCYT scholar in two programs aimed to improve the quality of English Language teaching.
